Oldsmar launches website dedicated to parks and trails
The City of Oldsmar is barely 10 square miles wide, yet it is home to 10 parks and preserves, all of which are connected by a system of trails that can be accessed by bike, foot or watercraft.
In order to get more people to interact with, and be know-ledgeable about, Oldsmar’s parks and trails system, city officials developed a website dedicated to exploring the not-so-hidden beauty of the city.
Explore Oldsmar.com was officially unveiled during the 3-in-1 ribbon cutting ceremony at Mobbly Bayou Preserve on Tuesday, where Mayor Doug Bevis happily promoted the new site.
“Our new website is officially launching today, Explore Oldsmar.com,” Mayor Bevis told the crowd that assembled at the park’s new Environmental Education Center.
“I’ve got to say a big thank you to our city clerk’s office for putting that together and trying to make eco-tourism, which is a council priority, something that they are passionate and behind.”
After the mayor’s speech, those in attendance were invited to snap some fun photos and take a copy of the map that formed the basis of Explore Oldsmar.com, while Oldsmar Communications Specialist, Debb Pauley, took time to explain the site.
“Explore Oldsmar.com has maps of the parks and trailheads, photos, and information about the city’s parks and trail system,” Pauley told Oldsmar Connect.
“What’s nice is that it’s interactive, and it’s mobile-friendly,” she added, noting the site will expand to include other features in the future.
“We have our historical walking tour on there, and eventually we will have our public art displays, as well,” she said.
“It’s great because we will be able to add different elements and features as we grow the site.”
