Ever since Oldsmar Connect launched a few months ago, it quickly became apparent that this growing, thriving city likes to do things in a bigger and/or a more unique way than most municipalities in the area.
From world-class bike tracks and record-setting solar arrays to cutting-edge housing projects and award-winning athletic teams, Oldsmar’s unofficial motto could be “go big or go home.”
So it should come as no surprise that this Friday, the city will host what might be the biggest ribbon cutting ceremony on record, as eight businesses in the Forest Lakes Village Center will get the royal ribbon cutting treatment.
“The 8-in-1 ribbon cutting ceremony, we’ve never done this before,” Oldsmar Mayor Doug Bevis said during his Mayor’s Minute at the City Council meeting last week.
Bevis explained that the tenants of the plaza, which is located at 3780 Tampa Road, “were kind enough to go through the mess of Thornton’s going in there…so what we’re going to do is, each tenant will host their own ribbon cutting ceremony, and then we will have an overall ribbon cutting ceremony for the entire plaza.”
According to city officials, Mayor Bevis and other Oldsmar dignitaries will be on hand, as each business hosts their own ribbon cutting beginning at 3:30 p.m., to be followed by an “all together finale” at the conclusion of the ceremony.
Some tenants will be offering raffles and prizes, and the public is being encouraged to attend.
“They’re really excited about this,” Bevis said.
